The iPhone
It’s the phone everyone’s talking about, so is it any good?
I’ve had my iPhone for about 3 months, and I use it intensively. I use it for work, for email, for its diary, as my iPod, for texting, and as a phone. The first thing to say about it is that it is beautiful, and very cool. But once you get past that, is it any good? Well, the simple answer is no. It’s not good. It’s outstanding.
Your iPhone connects to iTunes on your PC, and from here you can sync music, photos, emails and contacts among other things.
The touch-screen keyboard takes a little getting used to but the predictive text works very well. The keyboard would certainly be easier to use for those with smaller fingers and without long nails!
In my opinion, the iPhone has two best features. The first is that it uses GPS, meaning it can pick up your current location (if you allow it). This is especially useful when used with its second best feature: Apps. The Apps are additional programs that you can download from the iTunes store (through your iTunes account), either for free or for a small price. The Apps include such programs as “AroundMe”, which can tell you how far away the nearest petrol station/hotel/hospital/pub/etc is from you, and then tell you their phone number and address, and lastly shows you on a map the route to get there from where you are!
Other apps include games, TV pages, birthday reminders, traffic updates, movie trailers (showing viewing times at your nearest cinemas, of course)…the list goes on. New apps are added all the time and this also means that the iPhone never gets boring.
Two things I’d like to see on the iPhone: the ability to copy and paste text, and the ability to set a song from iTunes as your wake-up alarm. The battery could last a bit longer too (I charge it nightly), but other than that iLove it! |
